Megan Tomlinson is looking ahead to race day to build her experience in what will be only her second race weekend in a TCR car, after making her debut earlier this year in the Canadian SCCC at Canadian Tire Motorsport Park with TWOth Autosport.
The 24-year-old has taken over the second of Volcano Motorsport’s two Audi RS 3 LMS cars this weekend, and set the 14th fastest time in qualifying, having only just arrived at the track just ahead of Free Practice 1 this morning in a last-minute call-up.
Tomlinson and Riley Pegram, who this weekend become the first two female racers in the series’ short history, were battling it out in qualifying with Tomlinson coming out on top, albeit racing with the experienced championship-winning Spanish squad, while Pegram is competing in her family-run operation with the first-generation Audi.
“It was pretty slippery out on this track and I’m still learning these new tyres,” said Tomlinson. “After the IMSA guys put all the rubber down it was much grippier out there than it was in practice. My objective this weekend is I’m really just here for the experience; to go out and get track time, step up a level and see what it’s like – tomorrow I’m going to push as hard and do the best that I can.”
