Former F1 driver Nelson Piquet jr will join Squadra Martino for this weekend's round of TCR South America and TCR Brasil at Interlagos in the joint event with the Kumho FIA TCR World Tour.
Piquet, who's currently racing in the Brazilian Stock Cars and the European Le Mans Series, will be at the wheel of the Honda Civic FK7 previously driven by Rodrigo Baptista.
"I'm very happy to take part in the Brazilian round of the Kumho FIA TCR World Tour, against the world's most competitive drivers with front-wheel drive cars. It's always great facing new challenges, coming out of your comfort zone and learning something new. On top of this, we race in Brazil, my home playground, in front of our fans. I'm pleased to be part of such a top-level event,” said Piquet.
The 38-year-old Nelsinho, son of three times F1 champion Nelson Piquet, was Formula E champion in 2014-15 and claimed his best F1 result with third at the 2008 German Grand Prix.
