Lynk & Co Cyan Racing drivers Santiago Urrutia and Thed Björk have both been penalised for incidents during the second race at Mid-Ohio.
Björk was handed a five-second penalty for Race 2, while Urrutia was excluded from the entire meeting.
Björk had made his way past the leader Marco Butti, making contact down the inside which pushed the Italian driver's car wide. The Stewards’ investigation concluded Björk had gained an unfair advantage and handed him a five-second penalty, which drops the Swede from third to sixth, behind Norbert Michelisz. Butti too was given a five-second penalty for clashing with Urrutia in Race 2.
As for Urrutia, he was judged guilty for a post-race incident with Esteban Guerrieri; after they both had taken the chequered flag, Urrutia drove through the field on the slowing down lap and collided with Guerrieri, knocking the Argentine’s car into the barriers.
These penalties meant that Michelisz’s lead in the standings raises to 22 points ahead of Ehrlacher, with Mikel Azcona in third position, two further points behind.
